Blood Wedding Online with ACT MFA2
At the beginning of October I got a message from ACT to work as a weapons consultant for their upcoming MFA2 production of Blood Wedding by Garcia Lorca. I was so excited to get a chance to be in the room with my students again! COVID has done a wonderful job at separating people. Though it is not the same as running into colleagues in the hallway or grabbing a coffee together, it is a joy to be in the same zoom room. Needless to say I jumped on the experience. Oh how I had missed being in the theatre and teaching! I also felt incredibly rusty. I had gone from teaching and fight directing every day to 6 months of solitude. Though I have been working on many things and expanding my knowledge - I had not stepped into my old position of director or teacher. It was refreshing, exhilarating, and I wallowed on it for ages afterwards.
I consulted on weapons usage, but also on fights. The fights were non literal and were part of a beautifully choreographed flamenco piece. Though it was just a step back into my old shoes - it was wonderful. The students did fabulously!
