Shakespeare for ALL!
Just got word that I get to join the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival again in their Shakespeare for All program at the end of this month!
If you don't know anything about SFShakes' Shakespeare for all then here's a bit of the scoop: members of the community get to work alongside professional actors and put up a condensed version of one of Shakespeare's classics. We will have a week of rehearsals to put up a staged reading of "As You Like It".
I cannot wait to dive back into the forest of Arden, but this time playing Oliver in "As You Like It"! I am psyched! I have always loved sharing Shakespeare with the community. It is a great tool to bring people together. You get to create an entire world together. So people from all walks of life end up feeling connected by the power of their combined imaginations. The concept reminds me of working at Shakespeare in the Sangres. Doing "Macbeth" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with members of the Westcliffe community. That was an excellent experience. Needless to say I am very excited for this project.
We start rehearsals on April 27th and put up a staged reading on May 2nd at 2pm in the Salida Public Library. Prepare yourselves for awesome.
